À PROPOS DE WEFPA
La Fondation Wilson Erhun pour l'administration pharmaceutique (WEFPA) est une initiative à but non lucratif qui œuvre pour le développement de l'administration pharmaceutique en Afrique, à travers la formation, la recherche, la pratique et la formation de leaders. Forte de plusieurs décennies d'excellence académique et d'engagement professionnel, la Fondation vise à institutionnaliser des systèmes favorisant une pratique pharmaceutique éthique, efficace et innovante, en accord avec les objectifs et les pratiques de santé régionaux et mondiaux.
L'administration pharmaceutique demeure un domaine essentiel mais sous-développé dans de nombreux contextes africains. Des difficultés telles que la faiblesse des systèmes de santé, l'insuffisance de la formation des cadres, la limitation de la valorisation des résultats de la recherche et le manque de collaboration interprofessionnelle ont entravé l'accès à des soins de santé optimaux. C'est pourquoi la WEFPA a été créée : pour combler ces lacunes en favorisant le renforcement des capacités, l'implication dans les politiques publiques et le mentorat des pharmaciens, des chercheurs et des autres professionnels de la santé.
L’approche de la WEFPA est inclusive et collaborative. Elle travaille en partenariat avec des universités, des organismes professionnels, des institutions gouvernementales, des ONG et des agences de développement international. En promouvant une culture de leadership pharmaceutique responsable et une influence politique fondée sur la recherche, la Fondation vise à contribuer à l’amélioration des résultats sanitaires, à une gouvernance éthique et à des systèmes de soins de santé durables en Afrique.

Prof. Mrs. Mercy Onaodowan ERHUN

Prof. (Barr.) Mercy Onaodowan Erhun is the first female Professor of Public Law at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. A seasoned academic and legal professional, she holds LL.B, LL.M, M.Phil, and Ph.D. degrees in law. Her expertise spans environmental governance, oil industry regulation, and alternative dispute resolution, fields in which she has published widely and influenced policy and practice.
She currently serves as the Head of the Department of Public law, Obafemi Awolowo University having previously served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law. She is a member of the Obafemi Awolowo University Senate, combining scholarship with leadership.
At WEFPA, she brings a blend of legal expertise, academic excellence, and faith-based leadership, ensuring that the Foundation operates on strong ethical, regulatory, and governance principles.
Prof. Wilson Oyekigho ERHUN

Le professeur Wilson Oyekigho Erhun est professeur d'administration pharmaceutique à l'Université Obafemi Awolowo (OAU) d'Ile-Ife, au Nigéria, où il enseigne avec distinction depuis plus de quarante-cinq ans. Membre de la Société pharmaceutique du Nigéria (FPSN), de l'Académie nigériane de pharmacie (FNAPharm) et du Collège ouest-africain des pharmaciens de troisième cycle (FPCPharm), il a joué un rôle de premier plan dans l'enseignement, l'administration et les politiques de santé pharmaceutiques en Afrique de l'Ouest. Le professeur Erhun a occupé des postes de direction clés, notamment celui de doyen de la faculté de pharmacie et de chef du département de pharmacie clinique et d'administration pharmaceutique à l'Université Obafemi Awolowo (OAU), de doyen fondateur de la faculté de pharmacie de l'Université du Delta du Niger, ainsi que de secrétaire général du Collège ouest-africain des pharmaciens de troisième cycle (WAPCP). Il est actuellement président du conseil conjoint des facultés du WAPCP. Il a été consultant pour l'OMS, le PNUD, l'USAID et d'autres organisations internationales sur les politiques relatives aux médicaments, l'accès aux médicaments et le renforcement des systèmes de santé. Il a reçu le prix May & Baker 2019 pour services rendus à la profession de pharmacien.
En tant que fondateur et président de la WEFPA, le professeur Erhun apporte le leadership intellectuel et visionnaire nécessaire au développement de l'enseignement, de la recherche et de la pratique de l'administration pharmaceutique en Afrique. Dr. Ayodapo Jegede

Dr. Ayodapo Jegede is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Administration at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration, and his research focuses on pharmaceutical policy, pharmacy education, health systems strengthening, public health pharmacy and the economics of medicine use.
A committed scholar and mentor, Dr. Jegede has contributed significantly to the advancement of pharmacy education through innovative teaching, research supervision, and scholarly publications that continue to influence practice and policy in Nigeria and beyond. He has served on various academic and professional committees, offering expertise in curriculum design, research development, and health policy advisory.
As a Trustee of WEFPA, Dr. Jegede brings deep expertise in pharmacy administration and policy research, ensuring that the Foundation’s programmes are grounded in academic excellence, evidence-based practice, and real-world impact. His leadership and vision are central to advancing WEFPA’s research agenda and fostering innovation in pharmacy practice and administration across West Africa.
Aghogho Erhun

She holds a Masters degree from the University of Lagos and currently works with an international consulting and engineering firm, where she applies data-driven solutions to projects in infrastructure, urban planning, and environmental management.
She has a passion for blending technical expertise with communication, turning complex datasets into compelling stories and actionable strategies for decision-makers and stakeholders. Her professional focus aligns with WEFPA’s emphasis on accountability and measurable impact.
As a Trustee, Aghogho brings fresh perspectives in data science, monitoring and evaluation, and strategic communication. Her contributions will help WEFPA track programme outcomes, demonstrate impact to funders, and position the Foundation as a modern, forward-looking organization.
Prof. Noel Nen’man-Ndalbeh Wannang

Prof NN Wannang is a pharmacist, biochemist and lawyer. A professor of Pharmacology and Clinical Toxicology at the University of Jos, with over 30 years’ experience in pharmacy administration, research, and healthcare leadership. He has over 100 publications in international journals. Prof Wannang is a passionate mentor to young pharmacists, a seasoned administrator and robust researcher. His contributions to humanity earned him several awards locally and internationally. He was one time Secretary General of West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, Director of General Studies, several times Head of Departments, Head of Research Teams.

Eguono Erhun is a seasoned attorney with over a decade of experience providing legal support across corporate, commercial, and non-profit sectors. Her areas of legal practice experience include oil and gas law, alternative dispute resolution, civil litigation and commercial law. She has a proven record of delivering strategic legal solutions, fostering partnerships, and advancing organizational goals through sound advisory and policy development.
Eguono holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Obafemi Awolowo University (Nigeria) and a Master of Laws from Robert Gordon University (United Kingdom). She is licensed to practice law in both Nigeria and Ontario, Canada.
Passionate about justice, ethics, and community development, Eguono actively supports initiatives that promote access to justice, good governance, and women’s empowerment. Her work also reflects a deep commitment to community development and sustainable impact, particularly in advancing educational opportunities, public health anwareness and healthcare delivery in underserved communities.
Prof. Cyril Odianose Usifoh

Pharm. (Prof.) Cyril Odianose Usifoh, FPSN, FNAPharm, FPCPharm an Academic Pharmacist obtained B.Pharm from Obafemi Awolowo University, MSc from Sussex University, Brighton, and PhD from Westfalischen Wilhelms-University, Münster, Germany. He joined the services of University of Benin and was promoted Professor in 2003. Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy (2006-2010). Served as President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (2021-2024).
He has also served & chaired in various committees and sub-committees in the University of Benin and the local community. As External Examiner to some Nigerian and Foreign Universities and Reviewer to several National and International Journals.
His scholarly works have earned him a number of awards, including the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Tetfund National Research Grant as Principal Investigator in “The use of Pesticides in food preservation’’ and the 2017 May & Baker Professional Service Award in Pharmacy.
Prof. Usifoh is a Member of, European Association of Pharma Biotechnology; Quantitative Structural Activity Relationship Society; International Society for the study of Xenobiotic; International Society for the Development of Natural Products; International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research and Royal Society of Chemistry. He is also a fellow of several Pharmaceutical groups in Nigeria, he is happily married to Professor (Mrs) Stella Usifoh and a father of three.

He successfully developed novel bioactives from 16 natural sources into standard pharmaceutical dosage forms. and standard pharmaceutical excipients from 21 natural sources. Stephen F. Eckel is the Associate Dean for Global Engagement at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. He is also an associate professor in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education (PACE). In addition, he is director of the two-year master of science in pharmaceutical sciences with a specialization in health-system pharmacy administration. At UNC Medical Center, he is residency program director of the 2-year program in health-system pharmacy administration. Eckel has been very active in the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists, serving in the past as President. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of ASHP.

John Oni was ordained as pastor at Pentecostal Gospel Chapel, 30 snowfields , London SE 1,London bridge in 1993, called into the ministry in 1995, ordained as Reverend in 1999 and consecrated as Bishop of Ever Increasing Joy ministries in 2010. Professor Aina obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Lagos in 2005 and bagged a Master of Science in Public Health at the same institution in 2007.
She has over 100 publications made up of papers in reputable peer reviewed journals and Abstracts/papers presented at Local and International Conferences.
She is a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (FPCPharm), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN), Fellow of Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy (FNAPharm), Special Ambassador of Clinical Pharmacists Association of Nigeria (SCPAN), Fellow of National Association of Foreign Trained Pharmacists (FNAFTraPh) and member of African Society of Clinical Pharmacists (ASOCLIP).

Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She had her postdoctoral training at the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem, Israel. Her numerous awards include the Alexander von Humboldt
Foundation Fellowship and DAAD Visiting Fellowship. She was a recipient of the 2024 May
and Baker Professional Service Award and 2024 Nature Award for Mentoring in Science.
With over 150 publications, her research focuses on biopharmacy, formulation and quality
control of herbal medicine and gender studies. She is a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of
Science and African Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Hasipha C. Tarpeh

Prof. Hasipha C. Tarpeh is the President of WAPCP. A distinguished Liberian public health expert, pharmacist, professor, and consultant in internal medicine. With extensive experience in healthcare administration, disaster management, and pharmacovigilance, he has held various leadership roles. Dr. Tarpeh earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Liberia and Fellowship from the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP). He has published papers on Ebola, Lassa fever, and opioid prescribing patterns and he is a visiting lecturer at Trinity University.
Prof. Tarpeh has worked with prominent organizations, including the Liberia Medicines & Health Products Regulatory Authority and the United Nations Population Fund. His expertise spans public health, pharmacy practice, and healthcare education, making him a valuable asset to the global health community.
Professor Titilayo O. Fakeye

Professor Titilayo O. Fakeye, a scholar at the University of Ibadan, has served in prominent leadership positions such as Dean and Head of Department. Her expertise spans drug and herbal medicine utilization, medication management in chronic diseases, and pharmacy practice improvement. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in pharmaceutical care, pharmacotherapeutics, clinical skills, and pharmacy law, contributing to curriculum development and interprofessional education. Professor Fakeye’s research advances medication reconciliation, chronic disease interventions, and herbal medicine utilization and safety in many populations. Her work highlights a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, educational advancement, and context-driven healthcare strategies, significantly impacting pharmacy practice and healthcare delivery in Nigeria and internationally.

Dr. Martha Gyansa-Lutterodt

Dr. Pharm. Martha Gyansa-Lutterodt is a highly respected pharmacist and health policy leader with almost four decades of experience spanning national and global health governance, medicines policy, and pharmaceutical systems strengthening. She currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Joint Faculty Board of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists and heads the Division of Social and Administrative Pharmacy and Public Health Pharmacy at the Ghana College of Pharmacists, where she is also Head of the Faculty of Public Health Pharmacy. Dr. Gyansa-Lutterodt has played a pivotal role in regional and continental policy development as Chair of the Board of Advisors of ReAct Africa Network and Chair of the AU-NEPAD Africa Medicines Harmonisation Committee for Policy and Legal Reforms. She retired in 2022 as Director of Technical Coordination at Ghana’s Ministry of Health, after leading major health sector reforms, including COVID-19 response coordination. In 2023, she was honoured with the Order of the Volta (Member) for distinguished national service, bringing invaluable governance and policy expertise to WEFPA.
Prof. Fola Tayo

Rev. (Prof.) ’Fola Tayo, MFR, is a highly distinguished pharmacist, pharmacologist, academic leader, administrator, and policy consultant with over five decades of transformative contributions to pharmacy education, health systems development, and professional capacity building in Nigeria, West Africa, and internationally. He was invited by the Ogun State Government to establish the Department of Pharmacology at the new Medical School in Sagamu as one of its foundation professors and served as Head of Department until 1988. He played foundational roles in establishing and strengthening pharmacy programmes at the University of Ibadan and the University of Lagos, where he served as Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Throughout his career, Prof. Tayo supervised over seventy Master’s graduates, seventeen PhD holders, and mentored numerous academics, including twelve professors and more than sixty Fellows of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. As a founding leader and former President of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, he has helped in significantly shaping postgraduate training and curriculum reforms integrating public health and health systems management. Prof. Tayo has served as a consultant to the WHO, World Bank, ECOWAS, and governments, authored over 150 scholarly and policy publications, and held senior governance roles including Pro-Chancellor of Caleb University. His depth of experience in governance, strategy, mentorship, and health policy provides strong leadership for WEFPA’s Advisory Board.
Dr. Matthew AZOJI

Dr. Matthew O. Azoji is a seasoned pharmacist, public health practitioner, and healthcare executive with over 25 years of high-level leadership experience across Nigeria’s pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthcare delivery, and public health sectors. He has served for over two decades as Managing Director/CEO of three companies, including as the immediate past MD/CEO of Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, and is currently Co-founder/CEO of Riverside Healthcare Ltd. Dr. Azoji brings strong governance and boardroom expertise, having served as a non-executive director on several local and international for-profit and non-profit boards, including APIN Public Health Initiatives Ltd/Gte. Academically, he holds a first-class degree in Pharmacy, three Master’s degrees, and a PhD in Pharmacy Administration, reflecting deep competence in health systems leadership and administration. A Fellow of multiple professional bodies, his strategic, administrative, and documentation strengths position him well to support the coordination, governance, and institutional effectiveness of WEFPA’s Advisory Board.

Professor Martins Ochubiojo Emeje is a pharmacist of exceptional expertise in pharmaceutical innovation, traditional medicine development, research governance, and institutional leadership. Before his current appoitment as the Director General of the Natural Medicine Developent Agency he was at the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) where he provided outstanding leadership —covering industrial liaison, pharmaceutical technology, laboratory systems, intellectual property, technology transfer, and management of a research spin-out company. His recent appointment as Co-Chair of the Strategic Advisory Group on Traditional Medicine strengthens WEFPA’s capacity to engage credibly in policy, standardisation, and evidence-based integration of traditional medicines into modern health systems. He is a past National Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA). Through his international research networks, grant leadership, and mentorship of postgraduate scholars, Prof. Emeje supports WEFPA’s mission to advance innovation-led pharmacy administration, health system strengthening, and sustainable pharmaceutical development across Africa.

She has been Chief of the Molecular Biology Unit at Senegal’s National Reference Center for HIV and STDs in Dakar and a globally recognised leader in HIV prevention, molecular epidemiology, and antiretroviral treatment monitoring. She has led and contributed to numerous HIV clinical trials and applied public health research initiatives. She is Co-founder and Scientific Director of the Institute for Health Research, Epidemiological Surveillance and Training (IRESSEF), where she leads a major diagnostic and public health innovation platform. A former Rector of the El-Hadj Ibrahima Niass University of Sine Saloum and former Technical Advisor to Senegal’s Minister of Higher Education, she has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications. She brings to WEFPA deep expertise in biomedical research governance, public health innovation, academic leadership, and science-to-policy translation.

Prof. Julius Olugbenga Soyinka

Professor Julius Olugbenga Soyinka has strong expertise in academic governance, curriculum reform, and professional standards development. As Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Obafemi Awolowo University, he contributes practical insight into institutional leadership, accreditation processes, quality assurance, and strategic planning within pharmacy education. Prof. Mahama Duwiejua

Professor Mahama Duwiejua is a distinguished pharmacy academic who has played a central role in shaping tertiary pharmacy education, curriculum development, and postgraduate training in Ghana. With deep commitment to academic excellence, he has supervised numerous graduate research projects and contributed to advancing pharmacy teaching, research methodologies, and professional standards within the university and across Ghana’s health sciences faculties. Professor Duwiejua also holds leadership roles at the regional level, including serving as Second Vice President of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, supporting harmonisation and quality assurance of postgraduate pharmacy programmes across West Africa. His scholarly work spans pharmacology, therapeutics, and health sciences education, evidenced by multiple peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. He brings to WEFPA expert insight in tertiary education governance, capacity building in pharmacy training, academic mentorship, and regional collaboration, reinforcing efforts to strengthen systems for workforce development and professional excellence.

As Chief Executive Officer of an indigenous pharmaceutical and logistics company, he contributes a grounded industry perspective that supports effective engagement with the private sector and promotes locally driven solutions for improving access to medicines. Professor Gbola Olayiwola is a distinguished Nigerian pharmacist, academic, and leader in pharmacy education with extensive expertise in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Administration. He is a senior faculty member at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he has significantly contributed to teaching, research, and the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences, particularly in clinical pharmacy and neuropharmacology. Prof. Olayiwola has also served as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Achievers University, Owo, showcasing his leadership in academic administration. His research spans pharmacy practice, pharmacology, and neuropharmacology, producing impactful data to improve pharmacy standards in Nigeria. Known for his engaging mentorship and commitment to student success, he plays an active role in professional and community health initiatives. Pharm. Ephraim Osunde

Ephraim Osunde is a seasoned Organisational Development executive, leadership consultant, coach, and internationally certified facilitator with nearly four decades of multidisciplinary experience in pharmacy, brand management, management consulting, and corporate learning. He was the first Nigerian and second African to earn the prestigious IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) designation and has served on the IAF Global Board. A Chartered Fellow of CIPD (UK) and CIPM he holds postgraduate degrees in psychometrics, business technology consulting, and business administration in addition to a first degree in pharmacy.
He recently retired as Head of Learning & Development for the Nigerian business of a global energy corporation where he shaped workforce and leadership development strategy and execution. For over three decades, he has also provided values-driven pastoral leadership in Christian Ministry.
Since retiring, he has dedicated himself to developing the Impact Nexus Institute and advancing his work in writing, teaching, and podcasting—offering timeless lessons in personal mastery, leadership, and Scripture-rooted wisdom for personal and organisational development.
Prof. Olufunsho Awodele

Professor Olufunsho Awodele Olufunsho Awodele is an expert in medicines safety, pharmacoepidemiology, regulatory science, and evidence-based policy development. His extensive experience in toxicology and public health addresses patient safety, rational medicine use, and risk governance within pharmacy administration and health systems. Through his service on the NAFDAC Committee on Herbal Medicines Safety and his recent role with the International Maritime Organization in London, he adds valuable global and national perspectives on chemical safety, regulatory compliance, and pharmacovigilance. As Secretary-General of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, he is positioned to provide guidance on postgraduate training, professional standards, and regional harmonisation efforts. His scholarly leadership, editorial experience, and mentorship of doctoral researchers support WEFPA’s goals in research translation, capacity building, and policy-relevant scholarship, positioning the Foundation to contribute credibly to medicines regulation, public health protection, and health-system strengthening across West Africa.
